about

Harmonica-Electronica

In 'Harmonica-Electronica,' Gilbert turns his chromatic harmonica into conduit for the unruly. Each track is a blend of harmonica dissonance and faux-futuristic synthscapes, where analog meets digital but doesn't hit it off. Tradition has a stand-up argument with innovation, in the car park.

Gilbert takes the notorius Coxwell Harmonica Studies and plays tunes on them. Even the scale exercises don't come out unscathed. Classics such as Row Your Boat and Claire de Lune receive the treatment.

This musical odyssey is more a day out at a city-centre "shopping mall of sound", where you'll encounter quirky harmonies and odd rhythms. The harmonica, an instrument steeped in tradition, finds itself lost in this electronic realm, trying to breath soul into circuits and wires. It's an exploration of the boundaries of tolerable sound, an invitation to aural experiment where you realise that you are the object.

'Harmonica-Electronica' asks you to shed preconceived notions and embrace the uncharted territories of music - and you don't know how to answer. It's an experience that challenges the norm, disrupts expectations, teeters on the brink, and redefines what is even acceptable when harmonica and electronica unite. Let this album transport you to an ill-tempered world where experimentation goes beyond its allowed limits, and where the harmonica-electronica experiment emerges as a future sound that the authorities want to ban.
